Each year Easter Seals Central California provides educational, early intervention, therapeutic, camping and recreation, and daily living support services to more than 1,500 children and adults with disabilities and their families through our core services.
Camp Harmon is a residential camp for children and adults with disabilities. Almost six hundred children and adults with disabilities attend eight sessions throughout the summer. Ranging in age from 8 to 62 years old, they participate in horseback riding, swimming, arts and crafts, and many games. The opportunities to make new friends, try new things, and become more independent are limitless.
The center was opened in 2003 in partnership with Children’s Hospital Central California. The Center offers a developmentally based program for children of differing abilities from age 8 weeks to five years.
The P.L.A.Y. Project became a part of Easter Seals’ services in 2006. The mission of the project is to help young children (up to age 6) with autistic spectrum disorders and their families obtain interventions that consist of 2-3 hours of intensive, individualized therapy per day, and are integrated with other therapies saving the parents time and money.
Until there is a cure...there's Easter Seals. Easter Seals provides help, hope and answers for families living with autism today. While there are a number of organizations researching and seeking a cause and cure for autism, Easter Seals is unique as the nation's leading provider of services and support for children and adults living with autism and their families. Early diagnosis and early intervention are crucial. Getting the right help at the earliest stage of life can help a child gain the skills he or she needs to be successful.
This program offers primary caregivers the opportunity to enjoy breaks from their daily care-giving duties. By serving the respite needs of family members and caregivers, a less stressful home environment is enjoyed by all.
The Educational Services program provides services that supplement those normally offered by public schools. These services include: one-to-one assistance, sign language interpretation, adapted physical education, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, behavior intervention and home teaching.
This program began in 1968 offering social and recreational activities for young adults with physical and developmental disabilities. Wide Awakes provides a variety of social or recreational experiences three times a month that may include "pizza nights," monthly meetings, dances and shopping.
